UNY and UTM Establish Global Partnership to Improve the Quality of International Education and Research

Yogyakarta, March 5, 2024 – The Department of Physics Education, FMIPA, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) successfully held a Sharing and Discussion on Collaboration Opportunities activity with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This event aims to strengthen global partnerships in improving the quality of education, supporting research innovation, and creating academic opportunities for both institutions.

The event was attended by Dr. Noorzana binti Khamis from the School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM, who represented Malaysia. On that occasion, the signing of the Implementation Agreement (IA) regarding international research collaboration was carried out by the Dean of FMIPA UNY, Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Sc., and Dr. Noorzana Binti Khamis.

The discussion activity, which was moderated by the Coordinator of the Physics Education Study Program, Dr. Yusman Wiyatmo, M.Sc., was attended by the Dean of FMIPA UNY, the leadership, the Coordinator of the Physics Study Program, Dr. Supardi, M.Sc., and lecturers from the Department of Physics Education, UNY. The focus of the discussion included opportunities for research collaboration, improving learning outcomes, and developing academic programs that support the academic achievements of students and lecturers.

As part of this collaboration, a Visiting Professor program will be implemented through the Enhancing Quality Education for International University Recognition (EQUITY) Project funding scheme. This program is designed to create a learning environment that supports innovative research and prepares students and lecturers to compete at the global level.

In addition, this collaboration also opens up scholarship opportunities for students and lecturers to expand access to education and research at the international level. With international support, this collaboration is expected to improve the achievement of the Tridharma of Research, especially impactful international publications.

This activity is a strategic step to strengthen the relationship between UNY and UTM in developing technology-based education and research, which not only supports global recognition but also provides real benefits to society. This global partnership is expected to inspire other educational institutions in building sustainable cross-country collaborations.
