Department of Physics Education, FMIPA UNY Holds Workshop on Strengthening the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum to Improve the Quality of Education

Yogyakarta, June 12, 2024 – FMIPA Yogyakarta State University (UNY) through the Community Service (PKM) team led by Dr. Pujianto, M.Pd., together with team members Khafidh Nur Aziz, S.Si., M.Sc., and Bayu Setiaji, M.Pd., held a Workshop on Strengthening the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum. This activity aims to improve the quality of education at the high school level in the city of Yogyakarta by strengthening teacher competencies in implementing the Independent Curriculum.

The workshop, which was held at the FMIPA UNY campus, involved teacher representatives from various high schools, including SMAN 5, SMAN 6, SMAN 8, SMAN 10, SMA IT Abu Bakar, SMA Stella Duce 2, and SMA Pangudi Luhur. In this event, participants were given in-depth insights into differentiated learning, positive discipline, and the formation of learning communities, which are important elements in supporting optimal student learning outcomes.

As part of the activity, representatives from eight high schools in Yogyakarta City that have successfully implemented the Independent Curriculum (IKM) and participated in the School Mover Program (PSP) also shared their best practices. This provided participants with real insights into strategies for building an inclusive and effective learning ecosystem, so that it can improve student academic achievement.

Supported by adequate educational facilities, this workshop became a forum for interactive discussions between universities and schools. Participants were invited to adapt relevant learning methods and strategies, as well as identify challenges in implementing the curriculum in their respective schools.

Through this activity, FMIPA UNY emphasized its commitment to supporting the improvement of the quality of education in Yogyakarta through ongoing collaboration with educators. This workshop is expected to be a significant initial step in building sustainable educational practices that are relevant to the needs of the times.
