Alhamdulillah, on July 16–17, 2026, Dr. Mona Sari, S.Pd., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Undergraduate Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), as well as the Head of the UNY Biomaterials Research Group (RG) 2026, had the opportunity to fulfill her role as Partner 1 representing Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) in the 2026 Indonesia Collaborative Research Grant (RKI), with Universitas Sriwijaya as the host institution and Universitas Nurul Huda as the collaborating partner.

Yogyakarta, April 21, 2026 – An environmentally friendly innovation has been successfully developed by Yogyakarta State University (UNY). Through a community service program led by Dr. Laila Katriani, S.Si., M.Si., together with a team from the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), UNY, a bilimbi (Averrhoa bilimbi)-based bioadsorbent was developed with the potential to reduce ammonia gas emissions from poultry farm waste.

In addressing the priority issues identified in the dissemination and training on the production of bioplastic materials based on nanocrystalline cellulose from tea waste as an effort to combat plastic waste in the environment of SMAN 5 Yogyakarta, a comprehensive solution framework was proposed. The framework is systematically designed to address the high percentage of plastic waste in Indonesia, which causes environmental pollution given that plastic waste is non-biodegradable.

Dr. Mona Sari is one of the Invited Speakers at the International Conference for Innovation in Biomedical Engineering and Life Sciences (ICIBEL) 2024. ICIBEL 2024 is organized by the Center for Innovation in Medical Engineering (CIME), Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (MSMBE), the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFBME, USA) and the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) UGM.
